So let’s make Bread Roll today.

Cuisine:  Indian
Course:   Snacks
Prep. Time:   10 minutes
Cooking Time:   15 minutes
Serving: 2

Ingredients:

6-8 bread slices
3 potatoes, boiled and peeled
Salt to taste
½ tsp. coriander powder
½ tsp. red chilli powder
½ tsp. amchoor powder
¼ tsp. garam masala powder
A small pinch heeng
¼ tsp. black pepper powder
Some chopped coriander
Processed cheese cubes
Oil for frying

Instructions:

Cut the side crust of each slices. You can make bread crumbs with these side crust later.

Peel and mash the potatoes in a bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, heeng, black pepper powder, amchur powder and garam masala. Mix very well.

Add chopped coriander leaves and mix.

Take 1 cup water in a bowl. Add ½ tsp. salt and mix well.

Cut cheese cube into 2 parts.

Dip one bread slice in the water completely just for a second and immediately take out from water. Squeeze off the excess water by pressing between your palms. Bread should be soft and moist otherwise it will break down.

Place some potato stuffing between center. Put cheese cube piece over it and again put some potato stuffing.

Bring the edges together, close them and give a shape. Also press top and bottom part to seal them.

Heat oil in a pan for frying on medium flame. When the oil becomes hot, carefully add the rolls. The oil has to be moderately hot. If the oil is not hot enough, the moist bread will absorb a lot of oil. Add only 2-4 rolls at one time.

Flip them and move around for even frying.

Fry till they are crispy golden brown from all the sides.

Remove it to a paper towel for extra oil to be absorbed.
Serve hot with any accompaniment or dip.

Tips:

  • You can use multigrain or brown bread instead of white bread.
  • Make sure any stuffing should not expose from the roll otherwise it will soak excess oil. Seal it properly from all sides.
  • Fry the rolls in hot oil else the bread will absorb oil.
  • You can add paneer or nuts to make it healthier.
  • You can add any vegetables of your choice.
  • You can use any type of cheese like mozzarella or processed.
