Sprouted Kala Chana Salad | Black Chickpea Salad

Sprouted Kala Chana (Black Chickpea) salad is a perfect snack or breakfast for weight loss as it helps to reduce overall calorie intake by a person. This refreshing salad has fresh, little bit spicy and tangy flavor. This is vegan and gluten free recipe.

Sprouts have many health benefits. They are full of vitamins, minerals and proteins. Sprouts contain a lot of fibres and water so they are helpful in constipation. Sprouts are an extremely inexpensive method of obtaining a concentration of minerals and enzymes.

Kala chana is also loaded with health benefiting properties. This is an ideal food for diabetic patients. If you are trying to lose weight then black chickpea is a good option for you.

This sprouted kala chana salad is perfect dish after a hot and steamy yoga classes. This salad is very versatile and a great way to consume raw vegetables. This utterly delicious salad is simple and easy to prepare, once the black chana is made to sprout.

Kala Chana Salad

Ingredients:

1 cup kala chana (Black chickpea)
1 onion chopped
1 medium size tomato chopped
1 green chilli chopped
½ cup finely chopped cabbage
Finely chopped coriander leaves
1 tsp lemon juice
Common salt or black salt to taste
1 tsp chat masala
1 tsp black pepper powder

Instructions:

Wash and soak chana in enough water for up to 8 hours or overnight. Drain water completely and tie them in a clean damp cloth or you can place it in a bowl and cover it with a plate. Keep it in a warm place for about 1 or 2 days or until it sprouts well.
Wash sprouted chana with water very well. Take a bowl and add sprouts and all chopped vegetables.


Add salt, lemon juice, chat masala and pepper powder. Mix thoroughly.

Tips:

  • You can also add small pieces of boiled potatoes for enhancing the taste of salad.
  • You can add chopped cucumber. You can add vegetables of your choice or availability in your kitchen.
  • Now a days there are many options available in market. You can sprout the chana with the help of sprout maker.
  • You can cook the chana, if you don’t want consume them raw.
  • Adjust spices to your taste. You can add red chilli powder to mike this spicy. But you are preparing this for kids, skip either red chilli powder or green chilli.
  • You can add amchoor powder to make it more tangy.
