Sprouts

Mixed sprouts salad is a quick and easy recipe. This recipe is a perfect option for those people who does not have much time for cooking their breakfast specially collegians and working women. Now a days you can buy sprouts from market but homemade sprouts are fresh and healthy as we use raw sprouts for this recipe. So it is better to sprout beans at home. You can use a sprout maker which is easily available in market.

The plus point of this recipe is that the ingredients depend on your preference and availability. I have used sprouted kala chana (Black gram), Moong, Lobia and tomatoes, onion, cabbage in veggies. You can use sprouts and vegetables of your choices or which are available in your kitchen.

Ingredients:

½ cup kala chana (Black chickpea)
½ cup Moong
½ cup white lobia
1 onion chopped
1 medium size tomato chopped
1 green chilli chopped
½ cup finely chopped cabbage
Finely chopped coriander leaves
1 tsp lemon juice
Common salt or black salt to taste
1 tsp chat masala
1 tsp black pepper powder

Instructions:

Wash and soak chana, moong and lobia in enough water for up to 8 hours or overnight. Drain water completely and tie them in a clean damp cloth or you can place it in a bowl and cover it with a plate. Keep it in a warm place for about 1 or 2 days or until it sprouts well.
Wash sprouts with water very well. Take a bowl and add sprouts and all chopped vegetables cabbage, onion and tomato. Mix well.

Add chopped coriander leaves and green chilli.

Add salt, lemon juice, chat masala and pepper powder. Mix thoroughly.

Serve sprout salad immediately.

Tips:

  • You can add fresh fruits like apple, guava and pomegranate.
  • You can also add small pieces of boiled potatoes for enhancing the taste of salad.
  • You can add chopped cucumber and carrot.
  • Now a days there are many options available in market. You can sprout the beans with the help of sprout maker.
  • You can cook the sprouts, if you don’t want consume them raw.
  • Adjust spices to your taste. You can add red chilli powder to make this spicy. But you are preparing this for kids, skip either red chilli powder or green chilli.
  • You can add amchoor powder to make it more tangy.
